How Am I Doing?

How Am I Doing? March 15, 2019 A champion never pauses in the middle of action to consider what others think of him. A champion never stops to ask himself, “How am I performing?”  No, a champion just plays ball. A champion writes his story. And allows his actions to do all the talking. A champion has no time to consider how far he’s come. Or who’s creeping up from behind. A champion keeps running his race. He runs to glorify the image within his heart. He plays for the little boy inside of him. He plays with joy and enthusiasm. A champion is an artist of the truest form. He is free to experiment and explore and craves spontaneous action. He has full faith and trust in his physical and non-physical abilities.  On the flip side, when a performer is fixated and concerned with how he is doing his body will tighten, his muscles will tense and his mind is flooded with thoughts, questions and self-judgement.  How could we ever experience joy from this per...

Should I Play All My Cards?

Should I play all my cards?  March 13, 2019 If I play all my cards will I run out of cards to play? If I write all my quick writes at once, will I run out of inspiration?  The idea that we could ever run out of something paralyzes us and locks us into believing in the scarcity principle- there is only a short supply. So we stop playing to win, we stop writing and play everything close to the chest because we fear the reservoir will run dry. But the only thing to fear is fear itself. The river never runs dry.  It is our fear and self-doubts that grow to block our creativity. They damn the river, it damns the free flow of ideas.  It’s not the mountains we climb that wear us down, it’s the pebble in our shoe. It’s the small little pebbles of doubt and fear that hold us back. Not the mountains, not our bodies, not our abilities. Don’t let a small pebble become a bolder.  Faith is much greater than any fear. We must learn to play with the s...

No Two Dreamers Are Alike

No Two Dreamers Are Alike March 12, 2019 Big dreams are scary and even scarier for many friends and family who love you and are close to you. They don’t know what it means for them. They can’t see it for themselves so they have no idea how it could be possible for you. They have no idea how to support you.  So they project their negative mental imaginings onto you. And that’s okay it’s your dream not theirs. Don’t expect everyone to understand your dream. For no two dreamers are alike.  When others tap the brakes on someone else’s dreams and project negative thoughts out, what they are really doing is placing limits and barriers on their own dreams. Limitations on possibility. Truth is, everything is possible to him who believes. And there is more than enough good to go around.  Our limited thinking tends to neutralize our coming blessings. So guard your thoughts with all your heart and all your might!   And as you move in the direction of your...

There Will Always Be Doubters

There Will Always Be Doubters March 11, 2019 There will always be doubters, there will always be naysayers, there will always be those who don’t have enough courage or know how to believe and live their own dreams.  Those that limit their personal possibilities with countless excuses, complaining, and negativity and therefore are blinded to the world of possibility. They will tell you that anything is impossible  except what is easy or has been done.  Their doubts are only limitations they placed on themselves. The doubts aren’t real for you. Unless you accept them as truth and begin to believe in them too. You can’t serve two masters, your choice.  If you don’t have naysayers, if you don’t have doubters then chances are you aren’t growing and are not challenging conventional wisdom. The 4 minute mile was once believed to be impossible until someone did it! Understand where naysayers are coming from but don’t dwell in that place with them. Don’...

Greatness?

Greatness? March 9, 2019 Is greatness something that you become or something that you already are? Is it that you have to draw it out of yourself like going through the wringer? Is it the sacrifice of all the external pleasures of the senses for what is within? Is it the hours of practice, hammering away, honing our God given talents, of pushing beyond what we’ve been told is possible in order to become what we know to be true for us? Greatness is scary and it’s not always supported by those around us because GREATNESS is not normal. We live in a world that would rather all of us just conform. And when we don’t, when we dare step out we are labeled abnormal or weird. And when we live out our dream we are labeled special or gifted. But could one person really be more special or gifted than any other? When in reality it’s not just in some of us. Greatness is not reserved for the few. It’s in all of us. But we have been sold a bill of goods that says we need to go to school...

What is the question?

What is the question? March 7, 2019 Life’s questions form a mans destiny. It’s what we ask ourselves that defines who we become. Socrates said, “let the questions be the curriculum.” The questions we ask determines what we focus on? And what we focus on determines what we get of and from life?  We have to allow our inner questions to guide us in the direction we must go. And it is only through living that we discover the answers to the questions our soul is asking. When we look around we admire those who have answered their questions and written them down, performed them, or painted a picture. We try on their answers and we find ourselves frustrated because they don’t seem to fit.  When we search outside of us for answers. When we seek them in others we will always feel a sense of lack; a sense of despair. When we try to be something we’re not, we’ll always be a shell of what we truly could’ve been. And we’ll never be all-in, because it’s not our tru...

Am I in the game yet?

Am I in the game yet? March 6, 2019 As long as we are breathing we are all in the game. The question is what kind of player are you? What kind of performer? What kind of performer do you want to be? Because we all have a choice.  Are you complacent with just living, with just getting by? Would you rather just sit on the bench and doing nothing and point out how the doers stumbled? Or do you want to be great? We have a choice! And we give up so much of our personal power when we give in to the idea that we have no choice. In reality, we are the product of the choices we make. Everything that happens to us is a result of the choices we made.  When things don’t go the way we had planned, when we attempt and fail what is our response? Do we pout, do we complain, do we blame the coaches, the leaders, the refs? Do we blame circumstances?  When we blame others, it’s a cop out. Its the easiest way to get off the hook, and trust me, I’ve been there. And what...
